FAQ
Here lies some of our answers to our most frequently asked questions:
When do you leave?
March 29th, 2026
Where are you off to first?
Tokyo, Japan
Where do you plan on going?
So far we will be spending two weeks in Tokyo, Japan followed by another week on Jeju Island, South Korea. In Korea, we will meet up with Hannah’s mother and then continue our journey back to Osaka, Japan. Another week will pass in the land of the rising sun and then we will be off to Hanoi, Vietnam. We have our eVISA set to leave Vietnam by early July. We still don't have our next leg figured out.
Hannah: I'd like to go to Thailand or Bali next.
Calvin: How about the Philippines instead?
When are you coming back?
We’re undecided at the moment. We plan to be back for Christmas 2026 at the latest.
What inspired you to go on this trip?
Back in March of 2025, Calvin and I had to have a pretty serious conversation. What is our next chapter going to look like? We had done our commitment ceremony a few months prior and devoted our lives to each other. If we were to follow the blueprint our next steps would have been to find a quaint house and start our family. We are not the blueprint. We agreed that after our lease was up at the end of March 2026, we wanted to see the world and all it has to offer! We're young and have the energy to trek the globe before we succumb to chronic back pain. There wasn't really anything in our way to stop us. We just decided to go!
Can we still contact you?
Of course! We will still hold our same numbers so feel free to text and FaceTime us at any time. You can also send a message to us here . Although we will have more than a 12 hour time difference we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
What can we expect from this blog?
Think of this like a weekly check-in with us. This can include photos, travel tips, and quick stories. We may not be able to all call you one-on-one and recount our days thoroughly with each and everyone of you so… we made this! A sneak peek into our wandering lives that leaves grandma feeling a little more at ease. We promise not to travel off the beaten path… too often. 😉
What are you most excited for?
Hannah: After graduating last year with my B.A. in Anthropology, I wanted to use this trip as my own ethnographic research project. Try local cooking classes in Vietnam and find onsens in Japan. Really become immersed in each culture we come across.
Calvin: Food and living each day with no direction.
