A Homeward Bound Happy Birthday

Let me start off my saying, thank you so much for all the birthday wishes.

Now, do you want the good or the bad news first...? Let's start with the good!

If you told me a few weeks ago that I would be going back to Minnesota today while Calvin stayed, I would have called you insane. But here we are! Calvin has been given this amazing opportunity to work with his friend Keenan out here in Manila for the next upcoming months. The bad news is that he will have to stay here in the Philippines a bit longer than expected.

As he sat me down to tell me the news, I was ecstatic but a little sad knowing that we would have to stay in one place. A place that I wasn't necessarily connecting to. Metro Manila is so vibrant and busy but I didn't truly feel comfortable here. Mostly because the cock roaches out here smell the fear on me and tend to bully me for it. Manila also doesn't feel like home the way Minneapolis does. We made the decision that while he works out here in the Philippines, I would go back to Minnesota and start working on our home base out there. And I couldn't be more excited!

Don't get me wrong, I will definitely be missing our late night Jollibee sessions and Din Tai Fung just down the road but, I found myself yearning to go back to my community. I thought I could miss a Minnesota summer but I was dead wrong. You guys look like you're having way too much fun!

But also don't worry. Calvin will be back before you know it (at least that's what I keep telling myself... we have our cats to take care of and I don't think I'd make the best feline single mother).

My flight leaves in just a few hours from Manila to Seoul then to Minneapolis. I do have a bit of a layover and plan on spending it at the airport spa. Stay tuned! Even though my part of the trip got cut short, we plan on continuing our travels at a later date.
