Land(ed) of the Rising Sun
Our first day in Japan!
Alexa, play JAPAN by Famous Dex.
Calvin: You can't put that in the blog. Nobody is going to understand it.
Hannah: Oh yes I can! That's what makes it funny!
Calvin: You're ridiculous.
We made it! Nearly 13 hours grueling in economy class and we finally made it. Calvin had quite a rough trip but I only remember being up for 3 hours at most. We did have a bit of a scare when boarding at MSP because Delta did not like the fact we didn't have a return flight back. You should've seen Calvin sweat when they had to call the higher-ups and ask for permission to go. No worries though, if we got to Japan and customs didn't let us through all we'd need to do is get put on the next flight home. Ha! she says sarcastically

Once we landed at Haneda, customs was a breeze. We spent maybe 10 minutes tops getting through all of security and customs lines. The customs guy didn't even ask any questions. Just took my passport, looked at my face, and motioned to move on. Getting out of the airport was pretty seamless too. Thank god for carry-on bags only! The train systems are so easy here and super english friendly.

Once we got to the AirBnB Calvin wanted to take a "quick" nap. To my dismay, we ended up sleeping for nearly 5 hours. The beds here are sooo comfy. Could be the fact that we both get our own bed side by side but I think Sandman himself put something in them. We woke up at the prime time of 10:00pm. Earlier that day we passed by a cat izakaya. (think gastro pub but with kitties to keep you company) but unfortunately we woke up too late in the day to go see them. Boo!

We ended our night with some 7/11 yakisoba and braised beef. Trust me, konbinis (convenience stores) are going to be live-savers for us. I thought maybe we'd be able to go deeper into Tokyo today but trains end around midnight and we just didn't want to take the chance of getting stuck out there for the night. It would be a totally different story if it was a Friday or Saturday but Monday... as you'd expect there's not really much going on on a Monday night.

We're heading off to bed now (it's past midnight) but we'll check back in with you soon. Love you!
Hannah and Calvin

P.S. Look at this cute corn we saw at the grocery store :)
